Joey's love for swimming began in the early days of elementary school, where regular swim lessons sparked a passion that led him to swim competitively at the Berkeley Carroll School in Park Slope. A proud alum of Mount Holyoke College, with majors in Music and Psychology, Joey brings a unique blend of creativity and empathy to the pool. His teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that swimming is an essential life skill, and he delights in witnessing his students' breakthroughs. Outside the pool, Joey is a multifaceted artist, playing guitar in a band and capturing moments through film photography. A seasoned lifeguard, he honed his skills at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, and he continues to swim laps daily, embodying his dedication to the water.
