Nayyir has always loved the water. She was born in Puerto Rico and her family hails from the nearby Caribbean island of St. Kitts. The sea and pools were never far away growing up! Nayyir attended boarding school in TK for her high school years, which fueled her affinity for travel, learning languages, and for her swimming. At TK, she represented her school's varsity team, specializing as a backstroker and freestyler. Nayyir is now in her senior year at SUNY New Paltz, working toward her Bachelor's Degree in Black Studies, with the nation's second-oldest Black Studies Department. She is a proud and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and enjoys doing community service and bonding with sisters during her free time.
