Ruby learned to swim at the precocious age of three, mostly at the instruction of their eager older siblings! Just two years later, at age five, Ruby started competing on their local club team in Westchester. They went on to swim on a number of teams in the city's suburbs, including Condors and Silver Streaks, with a favorite memory being the sparkly swimsuits the Streaks' coach custom-made herself. After leading their high school varsity team as a captain, Ruby moved on from competitive swimming to focus on obtaining a Bachelors in Psychology and Education from Bates College, which was earned in 2018. Ruby has worked with kids of all ages, both in and out of the pool, most recently with teens ranging from 14-18, facilitating engagement in community service. In the year ahead, Ruby plans to learn to surf and how to mend their own clothes!
